Starter for One? No thanks I'll take a pud, or Seven!

Wow! What a glorious end to February with the first ever Gooey Puds Club at The Star, Lidgate, and it was a brilliant success - even if I do say so myself! In the midst of first day nerves and working behind the scenes of a busy pizza-making pub (jolly nice the pizzas are too!) 7 desserts were delivered, tasted and marked with some interesting results from the panel.

In the coveted first place came... Light and fluffy, smooth and creamy, and obviously very chocolatey The Gooey Puds Chocolate Mousse! Considering this was served last, it even scored some tens. It was closely followed by The Treacle Tart with Homemade Ginger Ice cream and the Plum Crumble with Custard. Most surprisingly of all was the score for the Classic Tiramisu, and its resultant last place - what a shocker!

I would like to thank some people very quickly, who made it possible: Sally from La Cucina Italiana (https://www.lacucinaitaliana.info) for the loan of some of her equipment; my ever patient and encouraging husband; and also to the two Julian's at The Star for making the experience as painless as it was. Oh, and obviously those who attended, I am very grateful for their patience, and it was lovely to see some familiar faces from both Ely and Bury Markets, as well as those new faces brave enough to try a Gooey Puds Club!

So why not treat yourself the Thursday before the Goody Friday Bank Holiday and come and join us for the next one! Just click the link below!
